Community clean-up improves safety in Sunningdale
About 30 residents joined the clean- up, which covered several residential roads, said Tyron Powell.
SUNNINGDALE residents banded together to clean up their area recently to improve safety and visibility by cutting overgrown bushes.
Tyron Powell, director of Marshall Security, said they hired a skip for the community to use.
“I coordinated everything with the community, assisting in cleaning up verges and open spaces. We had some of our Marshall staff in a bakkie collecting refuse and glass to take to the skip,” he said.

About 30 residents joined the clean- up, which covered a wide area with the skip stationed on Village Way and residents cleaning up several roads including Sugarfarm Trail and Round the Green, said Powell.
“We decided to clean because it was starting to look a bit shabby with branches that had fallen and broken on the side of the road. There were specific areas where bushes had overgrown and we trimmed it back- not only did it look bad, but it was a safety risk as well,” he explained.

“Most of it was garden refuse such as branches that had broken off in the wind and started to rot. There was also a section where we found broken glass behind a substation. We will take the refuse to a municipal dump,” added Powell.
Marshall Security’s Smile and Wave team were also there to assist on the day. The clean- up is ongoing with another community clean-up planned for Saturday.
