Taxi driver escapes serious injury in North Coast Road accident

According to paramedics the driver left a trail of destruction after colliding with several objects.

A TAXI driver escaped serious injury on Saturday afternoon after ploughing into several objects on Chris Hani Road (North Coast Road).

According to Netcare 911 spokesperson, Shawn Herbst, the accident occurred at about 1.15pm.

“Reports indicate that a mini-bus taxi driving at high speed lost control hitting a car, wall, light pole, water mains and safety barrier. The driver of the taxi, a 31-year-old male sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene before being transported by ambulance to hospital for further care,” he said.

The accident comes after a week of freak accidents which left two dead in Durban.

On Tuesday last week a truck driver was killed after he was ejected through the windshield of his truck on the N2 flyover. 

Then on Monday last week, a woman was killed as she attempted to retrieve her cell phone on the N2 near uMhlanga.
