Resident continues to upgrade Durban North
"After speaking to these business owners, I now have their support in beautifying Durban North. I also advised them to take care of their shop frontages,"
BEAUTIFYING, cleaning, upgrading and improving – that’s what Ellysa Entwistle plans on doing in the Durban North area.
She first started by cleaning road signs in Portland Crescent and has now, after two years of communication with the eThekwini Municipality, she has also secured concrete bins for Lothian Road and a few for North Coast Road.

“I plan on getting more bins for North Coast Road. We all have to do our bit – as residents, homeowners, and business owners – to keep our areas clean and tidy,” said Entwistle.
She added that after visiting business owners in the area, several of them were frustrated with the condition of the areas outside their shops, but had no idea where to start with cleaning up.
“After speaking to these business owners, I now have their support in beautifying Durban North. I also advised them to take care of their shop frontages,” said Entwistle.
With regards to upgrading the outside of the home, she suggested that neighbours join forces and engage in a ‘plant swap’.
“When I clean up my garden, I often ask my neighbours and friends if they would like a plant or shrub to plant in their gardens or on their verges. Aloes and succulents look great on verges and is low maintenance,” she said.
“If you want to remove trees and plants, please find out the species. You can contact me and I will get someone to advise you,” she added.
Entwistle also advised people to plant trees and get Durban North to being that green, leafy suburb it once was.
