Man caught cutting copper cables in Avoca
"The suspect immediately fled the scene into the dense bushes when he noticed the officer," said Sanveer Sooklall of Swift Security.

A MAN was caught in the act cutting copper cables in Avoca yesterday, August 19, by an officer from a security company who had been conducting patrols.
The Swift Private Security officer noticed a suspect cutting a light pole to remove the copper cables on North Coast Road at about 13.40.

“The suspect immediately fled the scene into the dense bushes when he noticed the officer,” said Sanveer Sooklall of Swift Security.
The officer wasted no time and pursued the man.
His chase led him to a resident who flagged the officer down to tell him that the alleged thief was hiding in his yard.
“The officer searched the yard and found the suspect on their premises and immediately apprehended him,” said Sooklall.
” SAPS attended the scene and transported the suspect to the police station,” he added.
