Complaints continue to flow in over Briardene pit toilets

Ward 34 councilor, Shontel de Boer said the pit toilets were supposed to bring relief to the residents of Briardene informal settlement but, instead, it has done the opposite.

THE community of Briardene informal settlement expressed their concerns regarding the strong stench and  increase of flies in the area since the pit toilets were installed in June.

Community members, who spoke to the Northglen News in June, said they rejected the installation and calling it degrading and insulting.

Ward 34 councilor, Shontel de Boer said the pit toilets were supposed to bring relief to the residents of Briardene informal settlement but, instead, it has done the opposite.

“Just months after they were installed, residents are now complaining about the terrible stench and the increased amount of flies it has brought to them. As I predicted, the area has worsened instead of improved,” she  said.
