Durban North SAPS and Tafta support Domino Baby Home

SAPS officers and a representative of Tafta also handed out gifts to the babies currently in the home's care.

THE Durban North police station and The Association for the Aged (Tafta) joined forces last week to surprise staff at the Domino Babies Home with gifts.

SAPS officers and a representative of Tafta also handed out gifts to the babies currently in the home’s care.

Captain Raymond Deokaran, spokesperson for the Durban North SAPS, said the programme took on added significance as South Africa commemorated the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children Campaign.

“We really thought about expanding on the 16-day campaign by showing our support for the Domino Babies Home. Our officers brought toys, clothes and other gifts to spoil the staff and babies at the home. We work closely with the foundation and we wanted a way to recognise all they do for the community,” Deokaran said.

Crisis mother of the Domino Babies Home, Precious Thabethe said she was blown away by the love shown on the day.

“I honestly have no words. This surprise from the Durban North SAPS and Tafta shows the heart of the community. It shows they are here for us, serving in the community in other ways. We have five staff members at the home and I couldn’t do this without their help. To be recognised in this way is incredibly special,” she said.
