Road upgrade planned for Umhlanga Oceans development
The road upgrades will be done in two phases says Vivian Reddy.
PLANS are afoot to upgrade the road network around the Oceans Umhlanga development site.
Oceans Umhlanga chairman, Vivian Reddy, said phase one of the upgrade would begin at the end of February.
Speaking to Northglen News, the Izinga Ridge resident said the road upgrade would begin with Lighthouse Road.
“The developers have confirmed that roadworks will commence at the end of February. All the roads around the mall will be upgraded which include Lighthouse Road, Lagoon Drive and Ridge Road to allow for more free traffic flow and easier access into uMhlanga village. I can confirm that Ridge Road will be extended to link up with Lagoon Drive.

“The road upgrade will be done in two phases. The first phase will involve the upgrade of Lighthouse Road and Ridge Road which would mean easier access for the opening of the five-star Radisson Blu Hotel in April. The second phase of the road upgrade will be completed by July,” he explained.
The Oceans Umhlanga project, worth R4 billion will also see the construction of a new mall that is due to be opened by October this year.
Last week, City mayor, Mxolisi Kaunda, along with members of the eThekwini Municipality Executive Committee (Exco) conducted an oversight visit of the catalytic project.
