Stolen vehicle, pistols recovered in uMhlanga
Three men were also detained after crashing the stolen vehicle into the police.
THE DURBAN North Crime Prevention Unit seized a stolen vehicle and recovered two pistols in uMhlanga on Saturday night.
According to provincial SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele, three men were also detained in the incident on Sugar Close.
“The SAPS were conducting crime prevention operations when they noticed a vehicle parked at a parking lot with three men inside. As they approached this vehicle, the men tried to flee and collided with a police vehicle. The police officers were able to prevent the suspects from fleeing.

“Upon searching the vehicle, the team recovered two pistols with their serial numbers filed off and discovered that the vehicle had false registration plates. The three men aged between 21 and 33 were placed under arrest and taken to the Durban North police station for further processing,” Mbele said.
The suspects are due to appear at the Durban Magistrate’s Court this week facing charges of unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition as well as possession of a vehicle suspected to be stolen.
