Former eThekwini mayor elected as ANC chairperson
The conference was held over the weekend.
DESPITE facing corruption charges, former eThekwini mayor Zandile Gumede, was last night (Sunday) selected as chairperson of the ANC at the party’s regional conference over the weekend.
Gumede participated in absentia, confirming her availability through a letter which Zama Sokhabase read.

According to media reports, the long and drawn out process, also saw Tembo Ntuli elected as deputy chairperson, provincial secretary Musa Nciki, deputy secretary Nkosenhle Madlala and Zoe Shabalala as treasurer.
Gumede received 219 votes of the 395 delegates.
