Horrific accident on N2 kills 4

Two babies were also injured in the horror crash on the N2.

FOUR people have been killed and seven others injured in a horrific accident on the N2 northbound before Spaghetti Junction on Friday evening.

ALS Paramedics Medical Services together with Life Response responded to the scene and arrived to find total carnage.

A SUV believed to be carrying an entire family somehow lost control and collided into the rear of a truck.

According to spokesperson for ALS Paramedics, Garrith Jamieson, a man and two women from the SUV were found severely entrapped in the wreckage with fatal injuries.

“Unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do for them and they were declared deceased on the scene. The eThekweni Fire Department utilised the jaws of life and other hydraulic tools to free them from the wreckage,” said Jamieson.

“Eight others including two babies had sustained injuries ranging from moderate to critical and they were stabilized on the scene before being transported to a nearby Durban hospital. A fourth occupant of the vehicle later died at the hospital,” he said.

He added the events leading up to the accident were unknown, however, SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
