Demos galore at awareness event in Durban North

The event enables the community to get to know who their heroes are and what they do on a daily basis.

THE Emergency Services Awareness Day, hosted by the Law Enforcement Foundation, is back after four years.

Organiser Gill Rall said the event was placed on hold during the Covid-19 pandemic, however, the community can now look forward to an even bigger and better event.

There will be demos from law enforcement agencies, a helicopter display, food stalls and a flea market.

“Members of the community will enjoy demos from various emergency and rescue sectors, as well, and meet some of the people who are responsible for saving lives and fighting crime on a daily basis,” said Rall.

“The foundation works closely with Durban North and uMhlanga CPF, SAPS, Metro Police, various security companies, medical personnel and all other emergency services in the area. If you are wondering what happens behind the scenes, this is the event to attend to find out,” she added.

She added that it was important for the community to get to know who their heroes are and what they do on a daily basis.

“The organisation was formed back in 2015 to aid the reduction of crime in the community. To date, we’ve helped fund various crime-prevention initiatives as well as initiatives that are not crime-related. We’ve raised funds to purchase a boat for SAPS and provided PPE for members during the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Rall.

Emergency Services Awareness Day takes place on Saturday, August 26 at Northwood Crusaders Sports Club from 9:00 to 14:00.
