Child spends mom’s bucks on Robux
A Durban mom hit the roof after her son spent R2000 on Robux.
AN enraged Durban North mom recently took to social media to vent and ask for advice. The reason? Her son had spent R2000 on Robux!
The social media influencer said her son was using her device to play Roblox when he made the purchase using the Robux currency for the game. She requested a refund but didn’t receive one.

She asked followers on Facebook what she could do to get a refund. Some said the gaming site does not refund while some said they do. Unfortunately she did not receive a refund.
Some parents, however, did.
Here are some comments from parents:
“They must refund you. Just say someone else had your phone. My son brought coins on some car game for
R3000. They refunded me.”
“As long as you cancelled (applied for cancellation) as soon as you saw it. Then they should refund. Had the same problem and I was refunded.”
“…Inbox me your WhatsApp number. My son did the same. He spent R3800 and Roblox refunded us.”
Some, like the influencer, were not so lucky.
“My son once bought a game for R3700 we didn’t get a refund from Google maybe try contacting roblox directly,” commented one parent.
“Unfortunately there won’t be any refunds, my son did the same thing remove your cards from Google play,” commented another.
To avoid finding yourself in a situation like this, Roblox provides tips on its website to avoid unnecessary and unauthorised spending.
The key is for parents to have their own Roblox account linked to the child’s so that they can control settings from their own device, instead of the child’s.
