Woman escapes attempted mugging in Greenwood Park
There were four suspects in a Toyota Etios, according to eyewitnesses.
A WOMAN escaped an attempted mugging and a possible attempted kidnapping on Celtic Road in Greenwood Park on Thursday afternoon.
Swift Private Security spokesperson Sanveer Sooklall said officers attempted to locate the victim, who fled the scene.
“We received a call at 16:00, and a witness said he spotted a driver in a white Toyota Etios (sedan) drive up to the victim, grab her and try to push her into the vehicle. Fortunately, a vigilant resident noticed and shouted for help. The suspects immediately fled the scene, and the girl managed to escape. No belongings of hers were taken.

“There were four suspects in the vehicle, and the vehicle had a black spoiler. We searched the area but did not make contact with the victim as she was nowhere to be seen. This is now the third incident of attempted kidnapping that occurred within two weeks, that was reported to us,” he said.
Last week, a woman was robbed on the corner of Radiyat Place and Shifa Road in Avoca.
In that incident, the suspects robbed the woman of her cellphone.
“One of the suspects, wearing black clothing, tried to push one of the victims inside the vehicle, but he was unable to. They fled the scene, and no arrests have yet been made,” Sooklall said.
