Biker dies in Redhill accident

Paramedics say that a motorcycle collided with a car in a T-bone fashion.

A MAN, believed to be in his 30s, has died after a collision at the intersection of Chris Hani Road (North Coast Road) and Orange Grove on Tuesday afternoon.

Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said paramedics responded to the accident scene just before midday.

“Paramedics responded to the accident scene for a collision involving a light motor vehicle and a motorcycle. On arrival on scene, it was discovered that a motorcycle collided with a car at high speed in a T-bone fashion. The biker sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on arrival of paramedics,” Van Reenen said.

It has been a deadly period on KZN’s roads with 142 fatalities since the start of the festive season.

Last week, KZN Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube called on motorists to be extra vigilant on the road, especially as traffic volumes continue to increase.

“Road fatalities are a major concern to the provincial government because, since the start of the festive season, we have lost the lives of more than 142 people on our roads. It takes each individual playing their part to curb the high rate of accidents that occur each year on our roads,” Dube-Ncube said.
