According to Marshall Security’s Tyron Powell, armed response officers from the special operations team tracked down the driver of the bakkie to a complex in the Sibaya area.

“A member of our Special Operations Team, who was in the vicinity when the incident took place, immediately responded to assist. Upon interviewing bystanders, it was established that the vehicle had been seen entering a well-known complex in the Sibaya area,” said Powell.

Both the vehicle and the driver were located a few moments later.

“The Durban North SAPS were informed accordingly and arrived on scene a short while later. The driver of the vehicle was then interviewed by the SAPS and transported to the police station for further investigation and processing,” he said.

“The Durban North SAPS are currently investigating a case of culpable homicide against the motorist,” added Powell.
