Scuffle ensues between Athlone homeowner and burglar

The homeowner physically confronted one of the suspects and was found in a scuffle with them when Marshall Security arrived at the scene.

ONE suspect was arrested after breaking into a home in Athlone, Durban North, in the early hours of the morning.

The scene played out on Lynford Place at 03:45 when two suspects gained access to the property. The homeowner got into a scuffle with one of them before calling Marshall Security.

Armed response officers responded to the scene and assisted the homeowner in apprehending one of the suspects.

“It was reported that two suspects had broken into their home and that the homeowner was currently engaged in a physical confrontation with one of the suspects,” said Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.

After searching the suspect, a cellphone belonging to the homeowner was found in his possession. Unfortunately, the second suspect managed to evade arrest.

Greenwood Park SAPS arrived at the scene a short while later and transported the suspect to the police station for further investigations and processing.
