WATCH: Durban North paddler has magical encounter with pod of dolphins
This remarkable sight was caught on film.
A DURBAN North resident says he was amazed by footage captured recently on his GoPro of a large pod of dolphins off the KZN coastline.
“Somebody once told me that for every fin you see on top of the water, there are another five under water. This clip confirms this. They were obviously hunting because they spent around 15 minutes just circling underneath us. As someone involved in conservation, it was such a great sight to see,” he said.
Schloms said that through paddling and fishing off his paddle ski, he has also rescued marine mammals.
“My daughter and I recently rescued a Loggerhead Turtle caught in the shark nets. I managed to free him, but he actually swam to the surface to signal to us to stop and help him at the time,” he said.
