M4 collision near Virginia Circle claims one life

A double-cab Toyota Hilux overturned before three minibus taxis crashed into it.

AN accident involving a bakkie and three minibus taxis has left one person dead and 20 injured on the Ruth First Highway near Virginia Airport this morning (Saturday).

Emer-G-Med spokesperson, Kyle van Reenen, said paramedics, together with Netcare911 and KZN VIP paramedics, responded to the scene at about 06:30.

“Reports from the scene are that a double-cab Toyota Hilux overturned before three minibus taxis crashed into it,” he said.

“A male pedestrian was declared dead on arrival of paramedics whilst twenty patients were treated for injuries ranging from minor to moderate and taken by ambulances to nearby hospitals for further medical care,” added Van Reenen.
