Grace Family Church market brings hope

The market, the first to be held after four years, was well supported with visitors enjoying local crafts as well as live music.

RESIDENTS flocked to the Hope Market held at the Grace Family Church’s uMhlanga campus over the weekend.

The market, the first to be held after four years, was well supported with visitors enjoying local crafts as well as live music.

Rose Khanyile of the church said the market has its roots in social entrepreneurship and aimed to facilitate self-sustainability among local entrepreneurs.

“The Hope Market provides an opportunity to local non-profit organisations (NPO) and individuals who have come through our skills development programmes to exhibit and sell their products. It is about making a difference this festive season. It is also important that the community gets to see who they are supporting and that the vendors get a chance to gain exposure.

“We haven’t hosted a Hope Market in four years due to the pandemic and other challenges, but seeing this level of support was really pleasing. Our Grace Family community always shows the love and support, and it was great having the community also come together to give back in a meaningful way,” she said.

Visitors spent hours browsing through unique art, crafts, fashion and jewellery and were also able to enjoy delicious eats and drinks.
