La Lucia Mall’s photo campaign captures cash for youth
The centre is a registered non-profit organisation (NPO) in KwaZulu-Natal providing therapeutic residential care to 40 at-risk and vulnerable young female children between the ages of three to 18 years.
IF you or your family had your photo taken with Santa at La Lucia Mall at the end of 2023, you not only obtained some precious family memories but you also supported a charity, Wylie House Youth and Care Centre, at the same time.

The La Lucia Mall raised R10 000 for the centre by donating R5 from every photo taken and through obtaining other donations via other channels.
Marketing manager for the mall Cindene Sheasby said she was inspired by an Instagram post by Kerri Miller about Wylie House, and that’s how the idea was born.
“I had the idea of donating R5 from every photo taken to Wylie House Youth and Care Centre. I ran this by the Santa photographer, Guy Wentworth-Hayne from Pro-Booth, who thought it was a fantastic idea and immediately said yes. I got in touch with Kerri, and she passed on the details to me,” she said.
“Along with the R5 from every photo, there were additional donations over and above to reach the R10 000 donation,” she added.
She said the funds will be used for education and stationery for the youth in the centre’s care.
“All children are admitted to Wylie House with a court order from the children’s court and have experienced some form of emotional and physical trauma and require management, care, protection and treatment. All efforts are made to empower these children with life skills to protect themselves and eventually be re-united with their families and communities,” said Sheasby.
Sheasby thanked all who supported the cause.
