Northwood School’s viral video attracts international celebrity’s attention

The school's war-cry team spirit caught the famous rapper, Drake's attention, and he shared the video, racking up its views.

TWO of Northwood School’s war-cry videos have gone viral, reaching over 30 million views collectively. As if that was not a huge surprise for the school, two days ago, Canadian rapper and singer, Drake, shared one of the videos on his Instagram story, escalating the hype and adding to the excitement the school had been feeling.
There are also over 20 000 comments on Instagram and TikTok from users all over the world speaking on the school’s diversity and spirit. The school said on Facebook that the videos were shot on a regular Thursday morning as part of their war-cry practice – unedited and unstaged – a wonderfully authentic reflection of who they are.
Northwood School posted on their social media accounts yesterday:
“You may have heard some wild rumours these last few days . . . and it’s probably all true! The past few weeks have seen two of our Northwood war-cry videos go viral on Instagram and TikTok, with combined views of over 30 million and still climbing.
“Two days ago, we had another massive moment when R&B Hip-Hop Star, Drake, shared one of our viral videos onto his IG Stories platform of over 145m followers. This coupled with ESPN, House of Highlights and other major platforms joining in has truly left us stunned – with Northwood School trending around the world.
“The 20 000 plus comments on the two videos (on Instagram and TikTok) have been overwhelmingly positive, almost all celebrating and commenting on our diversity and the clear spirit and passion our boys have . . .”
The post went on to thank war-cry leader Nigel Kambasha and his war-cry team leaders, prefects and Mrs Nikki Torgious, the talented war-cry band, the tech and press team and, of course, our amazing Squires and Knights on the stands giving it their all.
