One of the incidents took place at a business in Romsey Grove (on September 20) where armed suspects entered the store and held staff and customers at gunpoint. A white VW Polo hatchback and white Toyota Etios were used as getaway vehicles.
“The suspects made off with a large quantity of expensive alcohol and cash before fleeing in the getaway vehicles. Nobody was hurt during the incident,” said Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.
Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team, SAPS Phoenix Trio Crimes, SAPS Provincial Crime Intelligence and Spar Investigations acted swiftly and intercepted the white Toyota Etios in the Phoenix area.
“Officers found false number plates linked to the business robberies and security tags from stolen alcohol bottles in the vehicle,” said Powell.
After questioning the suspect who was in the vehicle they stopped, more information was revealed, which led officers to locations in Ntuzuma and KwaMashu. One more suspect was apprehended, and several stolen goods from recent liquor store robberies were recovered.
Greenwood Park SAPS is investigating further.
