Suspect nabbed in Avoca break-in

The suspect was spotted by the homeowner who called for help.

A SUSPECT who had allegedly broken into a shed of an Avoca home was arrested on Wednesday (January 1).

The incident occurred on Julian Road.

Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell, said the suspect had broken through the rear wall of a shed on the property.

“The suspect was spotted by the homeowner resulting in him fleeing into nearby bushes. Security officers worked quickly to track the suspect. With a clear description of the suspect, officers together with back-up units and members of our Special Operations Team conducted a vast search for the suspect, covering all potential exit points.

“A few minutes later the suspect was spotted on Matheran Road and was swiftly apprehended. The suspect was positively identified by the homeowner,” he said.

Powell added the suspect was handed over to Greenwood Park SAPS.
