Umhlanga learners offer smiles and water all round

The learners have confirmed that they will return to the water tables again this year.

TWO Reddam House Umhlanga learners have been commended for their loyal volunteerism for The Domino Foundation at the aQuellé Tour Durban for the past two years.

Chad Selby and Rebecca Major served at water tables along the route, not only dispensing much-needed hydration but also offering smiles, and encouraging participants along the route.

The Domino Foundation is a beneficiary of the cycling event, so it was no surprise when Karen Brokensha and Thembeka Gumede of the organisation visited Chad and Rebecca to congratulate them on their good work.

“We wanted to congratulate them for being great ambassadors for volunteerism at Domino,” said Brokensha.

She also said Domino already has a well-established relationship at Reddam with its sandwich-making initiative.

“The heart to give is very apparent at Reddam and we at Domino have often been on the receiving end of that generosity. We were particularly touched when 16 volunteers lent willing hands to help our Disaster Relief Unit sort, pack and load supplies to go out to affected communities of the floods of 2022,” she added.

“We Shall Give Back” is the school’s motto and every learner is required to give at least 15 hours of community service each year.

Gumede encouraged learners interested in being part of Domino’s volunteer programme to email her at [email protected].
