The month of February will be one filled with love, laughter and music among other forms of entertainment. Whether you are looking to add a splash of colour to your life, or take a stroll at the park or night market with music in the background, here are some of the events that are on offer this month.
Whether you’re looking to brighten your days with vibrant experiences, enjoy a leisurely walk through a park or explore a bustling night market with live music, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
For the love of music
Whether you are planning a romantic day out with your special someone or simply looking to enjoy world-class music, the much-anticipated On The Lawn Music Festival is offering you that and more with the likes of Matthew Mole, Hollow Coves and Amistat taking to the stage at the Durban Botanic Gardens on Saturday, February 15 from 11:00 until 18:00.
Mole, who is known for hits like Take Yours, I’ll Take Mine and Run, will be performing a blend of folk, pop, and electronic sounds that will create a unique musical experience to get you moving. His sound will be complemented by the indie-folk duo, Matt Carins and Ryan Henderson of Hollow Coves with their organic and acoustic-driven music that celebrates life, nature, and human connection.
Twin brothers, Josef and Jan Prasil of Amistat, will channel the heartfelt storytelling of Simon and Garfunkel with modern influences from Ben Howard and Kings of Convenience. Their brand-new single, Loveblood, a collaboration with South African favourite Jeremy Loops, showcases their ability to blend raw emotion with dynamic soundscapes with songs that inspire love, hope, and togetherness.
Children aged five and under enter free and food is welcome; no own drinks permitted. Food vendors and bars will be available on-site. Camping chairs and small umbrellas are allowed (no gazebos).

Sing along to legends

The stage is set for one of Durban’s most versatile and dynamic pianists, Evan Cullum, to dazzle the audience with his performance in Piano Man: A Tribute to Elton John and Piano Legends on Saturday, February 8, and Sunday, February 9, at the Rhumbelow Theatre Northlands Bowling Club, 50 Margaret Maytom Avenue in Durban North.
This show promises to be a spectacular journey through the greatest hits of some of the world’s most iconic pianists, including Ray Charles, Bruce Hornsby, Jerry Lee Lewis, Billy Joel, and Elton John. Whether you are a fan of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Soul, R&B, or just piano-driven hits, then this show is for you. Tickets cost R200 and doors open 90 minutes before the show starts. There is limited secure parking available and booking is essential. Bring food, a picnic basket or buy at the venue. A full bar will be available at the venue; no alcohol may be brought on to the premises.

Sundowner Concert & Poetry

Cry, the Beloved Country

A call is being made to schools in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) to sign up to witness for free the live production of ‘Cry, the Beloved Country’ which is directed by Jerry Pooe. The live theatre production will be staged in two parts with the crew visiting schools from February 10-15. The production will then switch venues and be located at the Loft Theatre from February 17 to March 8. Hailed as one of the greatest South African novels, ‘Cry, the Beloved Country’ was first published in the US, bringing international attention to South Africa’s tragic history. It tells the story of a father’s journey from rural South Africa to the city of Johannesburg in search of his son. There will be two free shows per day, one at 09:00 and the other at 11:00. Florida Road Night Market
Florida Road will soon host its night market at Gordon Road Park with the first set to get underway on Thursday, February 6. The market will be held on the first Thursday of every month from 16:00 to 20:00. There will be a variety of baked goods, clothes, and crafts on offer at the stalls.
Add colour to life

The TMG Colour Run 2025 is back and it’s even bigger and better than ever. The family fun event will be held on Saturday, February 8, at Westville Country Club for an unforgettable 5km or 1km run filled with colour, music, food, and fun. Tickets can be bought on Quicket for R50. All profits made will be donated to the Westville Eco Trail. Morewood Farm adventure
If you are looking to experience the wild side of Hillcrest and enjoy an outdoor adventure, then Morewood Farm is the place for you. Morewood Farm is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, featuring three well-marked and maintained hiking and running trails of varying lengths and challenges. Glenwood Village Keep Fit Morning

Glenwood Village, your everyday centre, is hosting a morning focus on healthy, active living on Saturday, February 8, from 9:00 until noon.
“Just as new year’s resolutions of getting fit and going on diet are fading, and we are finding excuses not to get up early and exercise, along comes Valentine’s Day to give us new enthusiasm to love ourselves and look after our bodies once more,” says Glenwood Village’s Steve King.
To this end, Glenwood Village is hosting a Saturday morning Open Day and Demo morning to remind Glenwoodians of the many keep fit, sporting, healthy, active living options there are in the bustling neighbourhood. Local clubs and societies have been invited to set up tables throughout the Centre to be able to share info and enthuse visitors to join their club.
Among the exhibitors will be The Gym Company; Stella Running Club and Athletics Club; Berea Croquet Club; Pickleball Windsor; Glenwood Gymnastics Club; Berea Bowling Club and Fitness with Shaun Stander. There will be free aerobics sessions with the Gym Company throughout the morning. Entry is free and all are welcome.
