WITH the rising costs of living, parents will know that purchasing new clothes for their children can equate to half your grocery bill for the month.
For this reason, two La Lucia moms decided to start the Growing Up Green Fair which was a hit last year, with parents coming through to purchase branded clothing and items at a fraction of the price.
Tammy Mack and Brittany McDougall had just had their babies and found themselves with a little time to spare, so they used it to plan the Growing Up Green Fair.
They noticed how expensive baby items could be and how quickly they outgrew them, and felt it didn’t make sense buying them brand new.

“Our last fair was a great success, building on the momentum we built at our first fair, with a significantly larger turnout. We had such a lovely cross-section of shoppers, from expecting moms and dads to grannies shopping for their grandchildren and young families.
“The energy was fantastic and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive from both shoppers and sellers,” said Mack.
The next fair, taking place on March 15 at Trinity Methodist Church in La Lucia, is going to be bigger and better, says McDougall.
“We have moved to this new, more spacious venue and have expanded our range to include kids’ toys, clothing up to 12 years, games, books, bikes and more. The quality of items we stock is exceptional. This isn’t so much a second-hand flea market as it is a curated preloved baby and kids fair featuring high quality, gently loved essentials, clothing, toys and more,” she said.
“Vendor spots for this fair have already sold out in record time, and we can confirm the stock is amazing!” she added.
Clothing brands such as Cotton On, Zara, H&M will be on sale. There will also be toys, books and baby essentials.
The market opens at 08:00. There will be coffee on sale. Follow growingupgreenfair on Instagram for updates.
