It was another epic encounter for the Comets who were forced to dig deep over 80 minutes to get back to winning ways in the competition.
Tries from Jacques Marais, Mambo Mkhize, Ox Myewa, Chandler Green and two from Edward Siguake sealed the win for the Durban North team.
Comets head coach Jeremy McLaren understood that it would be a difficult task in Kimberley and that the SPU fans wouldn’t make it easy for them.
“It’s not easy playing in Kimberley, but luckily we’ve been here with the university sevens so a few of our guys have been here before. I felt we were good in the areas that we could control and we made sure we eliminated the noise from the home support. We made sure that we were strong in our basics and at set pieces, which helped us secure victory,” McLaren said.
The Comets also welcomed back two players for the clash as Juan Steyl made his first start this season and Nkazimulo Mzolo also started his first match of the campaign.
