According to Tyron Powell, spokesperson for Marshall Security, SPAR Investigations contacted their Special Operations Team (SOT) on Monday regarding the whereabouts of a business robbery suspect vehicle — a white Renault Triber — involved in a series of SPAR TOPS robberies.

“The suspects and vehicle were initially spotted in the Umbilo area. Marshall Security’s SOT members began co-ordinating with other key roleplayers. The Renault was followed into Durban Central; however, due to heavy traffic congestion, the vehicle was temporarily lost but later spotted again in Morningside,” said Powell.

“When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspects opened fire and drove counterflow along Gladys Manzi Road in an attempt to evade arrest,” he said.

The vehicle was intercepted, and two suspects were successfully apprehended.

“Two replica blank firearms were recovered, along with stolen alcohol believed to have been taken in the Ellis Park Tops robbery on Friday, 28 March,” he added.

The white Renault Triber and the arrested suspects have been positively linked to several business robberies of late in the Greenwood Park area as well as Pinetown, Umbilo, Westville and Bellair.
