Rivalry fuels friendly competition at Domino Foundation
The seven riders are united in their passion for making a difference, even as they enjoy a touch of inter-organisational rivalry.
WITH the aQuellé Tour Durban road race coming up on April 27, the spirit of friendly competition is heating up – not on the course, but within the same family of organisations.
The Domino Foundation and its partner, Domino Business Development, are going head-to-head as both groups field small teams of cyclists for the iconic event.

“Each team is rallying not just for bragging rights, but for a greater cause. All proceeds from the race go to The Domino Foundation, the event’s sole beneficiary, which works to uplift underserved communities through various support programmes,” said Karen Brokensha from the organisation.
Domino Business Development will be represented by a four-rider team led by Peter Rowntree, while the Foundation’s trio is spearheaded by Mpilo Mthiyane. The seven riders are united in their passion for making a difference, even as they enjoy a touch of inter-organisational rivalry.
Organisers are calling on the people of eThekwini to line the streets, cheer on the cyclists, and celebrate a day where sport meets purpose.
