Stolen vehicle abandoned in Greenwood Park

The vehicle was one of two stolen vehicles recovered in the North Durban area by law enforcement last week.

A VEHICLE that was recently stolen from the Morningside area was found abandoned in Greenwood Park on Friday (May 3).

The vehicle, which had no number plates, was spotted by a member of the Greenwood Park CPF parked on Tenby Place.

According to Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell the vehicle was recovered just after 19:00.

“We received an alert from a member of the CPF regarding a suspicious silver BMW with no number plates parked on Tenby Place in the Greenwood Park area. Our officers were dispatched to investigate and found the vehicle abandoned on a residential road.

“Our officers managed to obtain the VIN number of the vehicle and we contacted SAPS who confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in the Morningside area more than a week ago. Greenwood Park SAPS was contacted and arrived on scene shortly thereafter. The stolen BMW was transported to the station for further investigation and processing,” he said.

This vehicle was one of two recovered in the area recently that had been abandoned by suspected thieves.

“The other vehicle, a silver Tata, was spotted abandoned on Old North Coast Road near an informal settlement. Our members, together with Greenwood Park SAPS Trio Crimes members, confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen in Phoenix area. Officers maintained surveillance of the vehicle, but when no suspects returned, they secured the abandoned Tata and transported it to Greenwood Park SAPS for further investigations.”
