Home invasion in Effingham Heights leaves elderly woman injured
The suspect, known to the homeowners, attacked the elderly woman with a sharp object, cutting her arm.

AN elderly woman was injured during a violent home invasion on Jain Road, Effingham Heights, on Monday evening, October 14.

According to Swift Private Security, the incident occurred around 19:00 when a distress message was circulated on a neighbourhood WhatsApp security group, prompting the immediate dispatch of multiple armed response units to the scene.
“A male suspect, known to the homeowner, forcibly entered the residence and confronted an elderly female in the kitchen. He then dragged her to the bedroom while demanding money and inflicted a wound on her arm with a sharp object,” said Sanveer Sooklall, spokesperson for Swift Private Security.
The homeowner’s son arrived during the incident and confronted the suspect. A scuffle ensued, but the suspect escaped through the balcony, fleeing in the direction of Bhoola Road.
It remains unclear whether any valuables were stolen during the invasion.
The injured woman received first aid from a neighbour before being taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Greenwood Park SAPS responded shortly after and are investigating the matter.
Swift Private Security confirmed that they are assisting the victim and police in the ongoing investigation.
“We remain committed to supporting the homeowner and SAPS in bringing the suspect to justice,” Sooklall added.
No arrests have been made at this time.
