Help raise funds for Crow through campaigns

The Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife helps rescue, rehabilitate and release of orphaned and injured wildlife across KZN.

IN November alone, the Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (Crow) had 488 animals in need come through their doors.

They deal with all indigenous wildlife, including antelope, dassies, and birdlife.

As part of their fundraising efforts to help them continue doing the work they do, the centre has two initiatives. The first is a Giving Tuesday campaign with the aim of raising R50 000, and the second is the sales of calendars, one of Crow’s biggest annual campaigns.

Crow operations director Clint Halkett-Siddall gave background to both campaigns.

“Giving Tuesday is a global day dedicated to generosity, kindness, and making a meaningful difference. At Crow every act of support helps us continue our work of rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing South Africa’s injured and orphaned wildlife. This year our goal is to raise R50 000 to purchase essential items urgently needed for our daily operations.

“These include two pressure hoses to sanitise enclosures, feeding areas, and equipment. We are also raising funds for two fridges, one is for our Education Centre and one for our international Volunteer House. This is a big one as it’s really important to have those extra hands, especially in baby season. We are going to have a full house in February with 14 international volunteers who’ll be with us for five to six months. The last thing we are fundraising is for an industrial washing machine to clean the blankets and linen used daily for the animals in our care,” he said.

So far the centre has raised R17 239 towards their R50 000 goal.

Halkett-Siddall added the other fundraiser is the sales of their 2026 Wildlife Calendar which celebrates South Africa’s wild heritage.

“With your support funds raised from the calendar campaign will go towards upgrading Crow’s Education Centre. Educating both children and adults about wildlife and the environment is essential for fostering respect, awareness and a lifelong commitment to conservation,” he said.
