Be a hero and donate blood at Durban North blood donor clinic
North Durban Lions Club urges residents to join their festive-season blood drive and help save lives this December.
THE North Durban Lions Club is calling on residents to be everyday heroes for their upcoming blood drive on Saturday, December 13.
The drive runs from 08:00 until 13:00 at the Durban North Blood Donor Centre, Kensington Square, Adelaide Tambo Drive.
Grant Hobbs of the Lions said members of the club will be on hand on the day to support volunteers.
“Whether you’re a seasoned lifesaver or a first-time hero-in-training, your donation could help accident victims, surgical patients, cancer patients, and others who rely on blood every single day,” Hobbs said. “To ensure the mission runs safely and smoothly, the North Durban Lions Club has teamed up with the South Africa National Blood Service (SANBS) for the drive.

“Lions volunteers will be on duty and will be your friendly support squad on the day offering encouragement, and keeping things operating effortlessly. Even if you can’t donate, you can still join the league of lifesavers by spreading the word, bringing along friends or colleagues, or cheering on those who do donate,” he said.
Dennis Ngongoma, Donor Relations Practitioner at SANBS, also encouraged residents to join in to support the drive on the day.
“We commend the Lions Club for their efforts in helping us bolster our blood stocks. While our stock levels are stable at the moment the festive season generally is a time when we require blood because of accidents and school breaks so the demand gets higher. We urge residents to get behind this and come out to support on the day,” he said.
