Top marks for Fatima and Reddam Umhlanga learners
Learners from Our Lady and Fatima and Reddam House Umhlanga celebrate their amazing achievements following the release of the IEB results.
THE Independent Examinations Board (IEB) has announced an overall pass rate of 98.31%.
All candidates who successfully completed the 2025 IEB NSC examinations achieved a pass that qualifies them for post-school study at one of three levels:
- 89.12% achieved entry to degree study, compared to 89.37% in 2024.
- 7.83% qualified for diploma study, compared to 7.56% in 2024.
- 1.34% achieved entry to Higher Certificate study, compared to 1.53% in 2024.
On the local front, Northglen News visited Our Lady of Fatima Dominican Convent School and Reddam House Umhlanga, to hear from some of the top achievers and the principals.
Our Lady of Fatima Dominican Convent School
Our Lady of Fatima Dominican Convent School’s principal, Chantal Lourens, said she was delighted by the results of the class of 2025 who achieved a 100% pass record.
Two of their learners, Giselle Gould and Danielle Newmarch obtained nine distinctions each while Reese Beart, Chloe Olivier and Cheyenne van Kerken obtained seven distinctions each
Emily Hughes, Caitlin Elton and Amy Coward placed in the top 1% in Mathematical Literacy.




Reddam House Umhlanga
Reddam House Umhlanga’s matriculants also achieved exceptional results, boasting an aggregate average of 75.53%, with students securing a total of 264 distinctions.
Incredibly, 75% of candidates achieved an A or B aggregate, reflecting strong academic consistency across the cohort.
The school recorded two students on the IEB Outstanding Achievements List, Rebecca Major and Daniel Major, and four students on the IEB Commendable Achievements List: Sarah Capazorio, Chiara Collett, Kate Hicks and Amara Nathoo.
They and fellow matriculant Erin Prato received eight distinctions each.
