Suspected drug dealer nabbed in uMhlanga

Following the arrest, the suspect led police to a flat in Glenmore, Durban, that led to the recovery of drugs to the value of R54 950.

THE Durban North SAPS have welcomed the arrest of a 36-year-old suspect who was arrested for drug dealing on Summit Row in uMhlanga on Monday (March 9).

The arrest was made by the Durban North Crime Prevention Unit who were conducting routine patrols and stop and searches in the area.

Following the arrest the suspect led police to a flat in Glenmore, Durban, that led to the recovery of drugs to the value of R54 950.

According to Durban North SAPS spokesperson Nonhlanhla Shozi the suspect was initially stopped in uMhlanga where police recovered three packets of suspected crystal meth.

“After questioning police were directed to his residence where [they found] 80 clear plastic packets tightly wrapped containing a white powdery substance, suspected of being cocaine. There was also 20 plastic packets containing a white powdery substance also suspected to be cocaine. One small clear resealable plastic packet containing 46 squares of white pieces of suspected rock cocaine,” she said.

Police also recovered 10 cream tablets with the inscription Boss as well as a packet containing multiple coins and notes to the value of R710. The estimated value of drugs seized is R54 950.

The suspect made his first appearance in court this week and has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Tuesday next week.
