Residents encouraged to attend next community imbizo
The imbizo affords an opportunity for residents to raise concerns and pose questions to the SAPS officials.
POOR attendance has been a key feature in many of the SAPS community engagements held across the Durban North policing precinct since 2024.
The purpose of the SAPS imbizo is to create a platform for police stations and its leadership to engage with the local community.
The imbizo in turn also allows communities to address concerns and raise issues affecting them.

At the last community imbizo on February 25, only 12 residents attended, however the most common issues raised related to stricter enforcement over speeding and reckless driving, particularly in uMhlanga.
Despite the low turnout, spokesperson for the police station, Sergeant Nonhlanhla Shozi, once again encouraged residents to attend the next meeting on Thursday, March 26.
“Residents are invited to attend as SAPS are offering residents a direct platform to raise concerns, engage openly with local police leadership and work together toward strengthening safety, accountability and co-operate with the community.
“Community participation plays an important role in building safer neighbourhoods and strengthening partnerships between residents and law enforcement,” she said.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, March 26 at 17:00 at St Michael’s Anglican Church (6 Durban View Road, uMhlanga).
The Durban North CPF will also be in attendance.
