Govender brothers to face month-long murder trial
The long-anticipated murder trial of brothers Ferrel and Darren Govender will begin in July at the Durban High Court.
THE long-awaited trial in the high-profile murder case involving brothers Ferrel and Darren Govender is set to get underway in July at the Durban High Court, where proceedings have been scheduled to run for a month.

The matter, which has drawn significant public attention and ongoing media coverage — including reports by Northglen News — relates to the murder of Mount Edgecombe businessman, Shailen Singh, who was shot in December 2024.
It is alleged that Singh and Ferrel’s girlfriend where having an affair.
Ferrel faces 13 charges linked to the fatal incident, including murder while Darren faces a charge of murder.
The case has experienced delays in the past, with pretrial proceedings focusing on outstanding disclosures, including Section 220 admissions and the clarification of key issues before the matter could proceed to trial.
