Four arrested for armed robberies in uMhlanga
The suspects had earlier robbed two victims of their cellphones at gunpoint before fleeing the scene in a blue VW Polo.
FOUR suspects believed to be linked to several armed robbery cases in the Avoca, Effingham and Greenwood Park were arrested on Tuesday (May 19).
The suspects, using a blue VW Polo, had earlier robbed two pedestrians of their cellphones, and were arrested on Umhlanga Rocks Drive near the Umhlanga Manors.
The first victim was accosted by the suspects, both of whom were armed, on Tyne Avenue, Avoca.

While Marshall Security were responding to the scene, a second victim approached response officers and reported that she too had been robbed of her cellphone by the same suspects.
Law enforcement and private security then began searching for the suspects and spotted the vehicle near Ridge Road and Lighthouse Road in the uMhlanga area.
“Working together with the Metro Police Tracing Team, members intercepted the vehicle on Umhlanga Rocks Drive where four suspects were successfully apprehended,” explained Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.
“A search of the vehicle and suspects resulted in the recovery of various cellphones, firearms with live ammunition and various other electronic devices; armed robbery suspects arrested.”
The suspects were taken into custody by the Durban North SAPS.
