AN Interim Durban North CPF was elected at a meeting held at Northlands Primary School last week.

The elections were called after a decision was made last month to disband the CPF Exco.

The meeting was chaired by Aiden David, chairperson of the eThekwini district policing board, while ward councillors, PR ward councillors and an observer from the Civilian Secretariat for Police Service, Sindi Monaheng, were also in attendance.

Acting station commander for the Durban North police station Lieutenant Colonel Sujith Rohith was also present.

At the start of the elective process, David laid out the guidelines and called on all those participating to be respectful of the meeting.

Several positions on the CPF Exco were filled following the meeting, including an interim chairperson, interim deputy chairperson, interim secretary, interim deputy secretary, interim treasurer and interim PRO.

Two positions, the PRO and deputy secretary positions, were nominated uncontested.

“The role of the CPF is about becoming the eyes and ears of the police service and make sure we do everything for the safety of the Durban North community. The purpose of the interim committee is to sort out the sub-forums, the operational structures, to ensure the Community in Blue (CIB) initiative is in order and to prepare ourselves for the proper elective process,” explained David at the meeting.
