SEEN as a celebration of world-class dance performances, the Shall We Dance Durban show is sure to thrill audiences when it opens at the Playhouse Company Opera Theatre this weekend.

The show, which celebrates the magic of different dance styles, also features uMhlanga resident Tariq Sallie.

He has been with the show since 2017 and said he feels the performances will leave audiences inspired.

“The show brings together a huge variety of styles and performers, and every performance is a joy to watch. What makes it worth coming back to year after year is that it’s never the same show twice. Every year, the cast brings the audience something new, a fresh experience built on decades of legacy,” he said.

“It’s the sheer diversity, of dances, cultures, and people. Performers from completely different backgrounds and walks of life come together to put on one show for everyone to enjoy. That’s the heart of what makes it special: not just the audience getting to witness an incredible range of dance and talent, but the cast getting to experience the same thing from the other side, performing for people, connecting with fellow dancers, and learning new styles and traditions from one another along the way,” he said.

Sallie first started dancing at school as an extra-mural activity and that in turn led to one of his life’s biggest passions.
