HUNDREDS of residents flocked to Crusaders Sports Club for the Emergency Services Awareness Day on Saturday, September 26.

The event involved displays from various emergency services and enforcement personnel.

The Law Enforcement Foundation, who hosted the event, said the day was about raising awareness of the often under-appreciated and often unrecognised emergency services personnel.

The event was last held in 2024.

Local resident and organiser of the event, Gill Rall, said it was a resounding success with all roleplayers involved doing what they do best.

“Despite the long weekend, school holidays, rugby at the stadium and a road running race, we were happy with the outcome with lots of raving reviews, good, weather and the food vendors happy with sales.

“I would say that without the community supporting an event like this, showing our heroes what it all means to them, it wouldn’t always be the success it is. We would like to thank everyone for their support as well as all our roleplayers that make the day what it was, the public coming out in their numbers and Crusaders for accommodating us again,” she said.

Rall added many residents questioned if the event will return next year.

“We have been asked to do our event annually, however it all depends on the helicopter’s availability, their flyable hours, the grounds available between rugby and cricket seasons, and the departments and their staff members being available,” she said.
