ALL roads lead to Ballito this weekend for the Pick n Pay Wine & Food Festival which has a new home at Sugar Rush Park and fresh line-up of artists to suit every pallet.

The celebration of wine, food and music will be held on Saturday, from 12:00 to 18:00 with new experiences to tempt the taste buds. According to the organisers, you do not have to be a wine connoisseur to be part of the experience.

“Wine has long carried a reputation for specialist jargon and formal tasting rituals, which can leave newcomers feeling they need to be experts before they can join in. The festival is designed to change that.”

Gavin Ievers from Pick n Pay said wine is at its most approachable when it is part of a shared experience. “Pick n Pay Wine & Food Festival is all about bringing people together over the things that make a great day memorable: delicious food, good wine, music and shared experiences.”

Ievers said the move to Sugar Rush Park in Ballito gives an exciting new setting in which to welcome festival-goers.

“Our expanded wine and food is offering and interactive experiences give guests even more to discover. Whether you’re a wine enthusiast, a foodie or simply looking for a wonderful afternoon with friends and family, we look forward to sharing the festival with KwaZulu-Natal this spring.”

The event will also have a new MC with Dave Guselli taking over the reins to host the entertainment line-up, with music throughout the afternoon and Stones & Bones the headline act taking the stage once tastings close at 16:30.

The festival will feature the Pick n Pay Tasting Room, flavoured by Robertsons, where guests can book tutored tasting sessions hosted by a winemaker and a chef.

COMPETITION

At the Gourmet Deli Experience, cheese and charcuterie take centre stage while the Pick n Pay Mixology Theatre presented by Diageo adds cocktail creativity with live demonstrations and tastings throughout the day.

The Food Lane and The Burger Truck will also be on hand to serve delicious food.

Ticket to the event can be purchased via Webtickets at a cost of R350. Every ticket includes a branded festival glass and 20 tasting tokens.
