“This was my first time making a South African team. I felt so proud of myself because it has been a dream of mine since I started playing hockey at the age of four. I was also so pleased for my fellow Danville learner Enyenhle Nzama who was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament. I didn’t expect to captain the side but it shows that the coaching staff saw that I have the potential to lead a team,” she said.

Showing her leadership qualities, Codie is the vice captain of the school’s outdoor hockey first team.

It will be a busy few weeks at the end of the year for the youngster who hopes to play in the Pro Series Indoor in Cape Town and hopefully make the SA team for the Nkosi Cup happening at the same time.
