THE future of retail has officially arrived with the opening of the Weylandts landmark store at Reefside Lifestyle and Leisure.

The store, which brings architecture, interiors, furniture and hospitality together, opened its doors on Saturday, October 3, within the greater Sibaya Coastal City.

Conceptualised by StudioLandt, Weylandts Sibaya’s architecture reveals a sequence of interiors, materials and perspectives that invite visitors to explore at their own pace.

Weylandts CEO Chris Weylandt said it has been designed so that the journey through it is as considered as the furniture within it.

“Good living was never only about furniture. It’s about how people gather and connect. We want people to linger, not simply pass through,” said Weylandt.

Weylandts is a South African furniture and homeware brand with a distinctive point of view on design, craftsmanship and good living. Its collections are shaped by a considered approach to materiality, form and function, bringing together furniture, décor and objects designed to create spaces with character and longevity.

At the entrance, water creates a moment of respite from the dense coastal environment, allowing visitors to pause and attune to the space before the journey through the showroom begins.

“We want our spaces to feel like a world,” said Weylandt.

Hospitality adds another dimension through Durban-based, family-run restaurant Shoots and Leaves, bringing its farm-to-table philosophy into the store. Known for fresh, wholesome food and relaxed dining, the restaurant introduces a distinctly local element that complements Weylandts’ focus on design and good living.

Weylandt said the location at Reefside Lifestyle and Leisure was equally deliberate, as the centre sits within the growing coastal corridor linking uMhlanga and the North Coast.

“Sibaya represents thoughtful growth,” said Weylandt. “Its connection to nature, its strong architectural identity and its vision for integrated coastal living resonate deeply with our philosophy. It is an environment that gave us the freedom to create something distinctly Weylandts.”
