It is very exciting to see how well the sales for the new Oceans Umhlanga development have gone and the potential for growth in our city.
The stunning sales centre for the development has been built on the little traffic island in Umhlanga Rocks, and I was thinking how what a wonderful gesture it would be if the building was donated to the health clinic once the sales period is over.
This health clinic serves the entire community, with people of all races and ages using the facility. I see people sitting and queuing outdoors in all sorts of weather waiting to be seen to. Imagine how giving the gift of the building would show that the development is inclusive of all locals, not just the wealthy.
I see that there are plans for some upgrades to the current clinic – why spend money on refurbishing a temporary structure when there is a perfectly adequate building just a step away? It certainly makes for a more sustainable building, and, in fitting with the mantra – reduce, reuse, recycle.
