'The Enchanted Playground' is inspired by the one of the most successful electronic dance music events in the world.

A TWO-DAY festival that will be the first in South Africa will be held in Durban on 13 and 14 June at the Moses Mabhida People’s Park East. The festvial, named ‘The Enchanted Playground’, is inspired by the one of the most successful electronic dance music events in the world – the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas and New York.

‘The Enchanted Playground’ will feature top locals bands and deejays alongside a full-scale funfair featuring 20 rides. A giant ferris wheel will be the backdrop to the stage, which on June 13 will feature sizzling South African bands Freshly Ground, Gangs of Ballet and Watershed, followed by top house deejays, Roger Goode and Pascal and Pearce.

On June 14 the spotlight falls on some of the country’s hottest acts: Black Motion, the Dream Team and Cassper Nyovest.

Refreshments stands, bars and food stalls will be in operation throughout the day, but families are invited to bring along their picnic baskets before 4pm. Once the sun goes down, DJ duo Pascal and Pearce will set the night alight before giving the decks to one of South Africa’s all-time favourite deejays, Roger Goode.

Pre-sale tickets are available through Computicket and cost R150 for adults, while children eight to 12 years old pay R70. Children under eight are free. ‘The Enchanted Playground’ is an open air non-seated event – various scatter seating lounges will be available with picnic benches in the bar area.
