Three essentials to pack for an island getaway
Besides packing the usual beach gear - a couple of bikinis, sunglasses, hats and all the sunscreen - there are also a few essentials that you may not have thought about, but will be so happy to have with you.

Where is the best place to go for a holiday during a pandemic? A remote island, of course! Switch off your phone, leave your laptop at home and enjoy absolute peace and nature in a dreamy setting. Besides packing the usual beach gear – a couple of bikinis, sunglasses, hats and all the sunscreen – there are also a few essentials that you may not have thought about, but will be so happy to have with you. Take a look:
A trusty flashlight
When you are walking back to your bungalow in darkness, post sunset drinks, you’ll be grateful to have a good flashlight with you to light up the way. Remember, there are no street lights on a remote island beach or in the jungle!
Lightweight, fold up rain jacket
Rain is to be expected in a tropical climate. Perfect blue skies can turn into a sudden downpour in no time, so be prepared with a lightweight, packaway rain jacket that you can whip out of your beach bag quickly when the rain comes. Quick dry towels are also a great alternative.
Mosquito spray
Enjoy walks through the jungle and evenings on the beach without pesky mosquitos by going prepared with a mosquito spray, cream or roll on. Generally island accommodation has mosquito nets in the bedroom, but if not, it’ll be worth your while to take one with you.
