Hoërskool Linden’s silver screen star
LINDEN - Melissa Massyn is a Linden pupil and also a big screen actress.

Many children and teenagers dream of being in the spotlight.
Hoërskool Linden student Melissa Massyn is actually living this dream. The 15-year-old actress is passionate about her craft and has appeared on the big screen and in theatre since an early age.
Massyn is known for her role as the comedic Susan (or Susatan as everyone got to know her) in the popular film Hoofmeisie. She also proved to be a versatile actress in the role of a brain damaged character, Katie, in the television series Erfsondes.
In he latest role, Massyn is cast as Annabel in Agent 2000 to be released at the end of March and though it is her second movie, the young actress still finds the experience surreal.
“When I went to the premiere of Hoofmeisie it was the most amazing and weird feeling to see myself on the big screen and now I am lucky enough to work on another film as well,” she said.
The thespian is able to balance school and acting through the help of a tutor.
“I always have a tutor on set that helps me with school work, and [my] school is often supportive and helps me receive my homework, and any tests that I need to do. I would rather be acting all day but the fact that I can do drama as a school subject is great.
“Honestly, the best part of acting is being around amazing people that support and appreciate me for who I am.”
