Man electrocuted by pylon
VICTORY PARK - A 19-year old man was electrocuted and died early in the morning on 20 June.

A 19-year old man was electrocuted and died early in the morning on 20 June in Zonda Avenue, Victory Park.
“It is alleged that the young man was driving home between midnight and 1am when he collided with a stationary vehicle on the road in Victory Park,” Constable Carol Mulamu of the South African Police Services Corporate Communication branch said .
“Police are investigating an inquest docket after the young man was hit by an electric pylon and caught fire.”
Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck said that there were no eyewitnesses, but that it was presumed the man had gotten out of his car.
“He was electrocuted by the pylon and caught fire,” Truluck said.
“Residents in the area heard a loud bang, followed by terrible screaming, and saw flashing blue lights outside.”
Michael Block, CEO of CAP Security, said that one of the residents in a neighbouring house pressed a panic button, assuming that cable thievery was underway.
CAP Security and emergency services arrived on the scene and had to use a fire extinguisher on the young man.
Emergency Services declared him dead at the scene.
“It’s one of the most bizarre deaths I’ve ever had in my area in my time as councillor,” Truluck said.
*Constable Mulamu said that the family wished to mourn in private, and did not want the young man’s name to be divulged.
