Singles can make a difference
JOHANNESBURG - Singletons over 20, listen up. You could become 2014's Bachelor or Bachelorette of the Year.

This isn’t a beauty pageant or a reality show.
But if you’re 20 years old or older, single and want to make a difference – this is the competition for you.
CopperStone Promotions’ yearly South African Bachelor and Bachelorette of the Year is a country-wide search to find South Africa’s most marriageable single male and female. The competition places an emphasis on a combination of intelligence, entrepreneurial spirit, beauty and the spirit of Ubuntu.
The successful candidate can make a great difference by supporting community- and welfare work. This is also an opportunity that could change your life forever, and might even earn you a place in the entertainment industry.
The welfare association the lucky bachelor and bachelorette of 2014 will be working most closely with, is the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa). The winning candidates will be collecting funds for the awareness of cancer in children and focus on creating awareness about this disease.
Semi-finalists will be chosen after judging in the following districts: Krugersdorp, Cape Town, Kwa-Zulu Midlands and Johannesburg. And finalists will be announced in Johannesburg on Saturday, 29 July.
Judges include Jacques Momberg, director of CopperStone Promotions; Jacques Terre’blance, Idols-finalist and singer; Rolanda Marais, actress; George Meiring, singer; Rialien Furstenberg, editor of Get It Johannesburg West, André Swart, 2012 Bachelor and Bachelorette winner; Brenda Dooge from Guvon Hotels and Rozanne McKenzie, presenter of breakfast show Dagbreek.
